Run the Race as to Win
Of the many things I'm thankful to the FBCA family for, the fact that our friendship and fellowship isn't limited to just our spiritual lives or just on Sundays is one that speaks volumes. I spent just about the entire weekend with a wonderful group of friends, having fun, sharing meals, and running the race of life together (figuratively and literally). A group of us ran the Marine Corps Marathon 10K last Sunday. The night before the race, everyone came over to our house for a "Carb Party" to eat pasta and psych ourselves up for the race. I prayed that night over the meal and just thanked the Lord that He has brought us together into a church family that desire to help each other to be healthy spiritually, emotionally, AND physically.
I'm not much of a runner. That is a point that I never fail to make every time I put the running shoes on. But I'm glad for Donelle and our friends at FBCA who inspire and drive me to participate in the "run". Even though I never pictured myself running in organized races (5Ks and 10Ks are where I draw the line!), I am forever grateful to have had the experience because I now understand, in great and small ways, that the apostle Paul's metaphor of the Christian life being like that of a race is so true. Pastor Don put it best in his post earlier today. Read it here.
