“…be transformed by the renewing of your minds…” Romans 12:2
At FBCA, we believe that every person can grow and experience spiritual transformation through the Gospel of Jesus. In other words, we not only want everyone to come to know Jesus, but to grow into a fully developed follower of Jesus. This is what we mean by living faith!
The word disciple simply means learner or one who follows. Discipleship is a life-long process of learning to become like Jesus Christ. Jesus modeled discipleship by gathering a group of 12 men to teach and to train to do the work of ministry.
Like Jesus, we believe discipleship is best experienced as a relational process and we encourage individuals to connect into a small group where they can develop meaningful friendships in a community that can study the Bible, care for each other, and serve others in our church and city.
Four Types of Small Groups at FBCA
Bible Fellowship small groups that meet on Sunday mornings in our building
Lifegroups meeting in homes throughout the week
Discipleship classes and care groups on various days throughout the week
We invite you to explore and connect in one of the numerous small groups at FBCA. Any one of our pastors would be happy to meet and help you find the group that is best for you!
Adult Discipleship Model
We have a blend of two discipleship models, an age-ranged model and family ministries model.
In the age-range model, we have organized groups and activities based upon general age ranges. We are blessed to be a multi-generational church and know that some individuals are interested in connecting with Christians older than they are, to gain wisdom and encouragement from their experience. We also know that individuals can quickly find community and a sense of belonging by connecting to peers in the same general age-range. For this reason, the age-ranges you see listed are simply meant to be descriptive of the individuals and couples who are active in those various groups.
Secondly, the family ministry model recognizes that parents are the most significant individuals shaping the spiritual lives of their children. Bible Fellowships, discipleship classes, conferences and ministries for parents through our family ministries are based upon the age of your children and designed to support, encourage, and equip parents as leaders in the spiritual growth of your family.
