Search Committees

First Family,

I hope you're having a wonderful week so far. I'm glad to be able to give you an update on the progress of our personnel committee. As we mentioned at our Quarterly Business Meetings, the committee has started the preliminary work to begin the search for our next Pastor of Worship. We've also started the process to find new leadership for our Student Ministry. We've taken a significant first step in forming the search teams for both roles. The composition of these two search teams is as follows:

Search Team for the Pastor of Worship - 3 Personnel Committee members and 4 Worship Commission members

Search Team for our Student Ministry Leadership - 2 Personnel Committee members and 3 Student Ministry Leaders

The Worship Commission aims to finalize the selection process for the search team by the end of this month. Additionally, we have reached out to the current leaders of our Student Ministry and have invited three members to join the search team. Our goal is to provide you with a list of team members by name before the month of August ends as well.

There are still many unanswered questions and decisions to be made regarding our search processes. However, the two Search Teams that have been established are determined to start finalizing the search process. They will prayerfully discern who the Lord has chosen to serve at FBCA.

Regarding our future Student Ministry leadership, I would like to share a recommendation I have made to the Personnel Committee. I suggest that we re-envision the Personnel Structure for Student Ministry by expanding the number of personnel from two to three positions. These positions would include two Directors of Student Ministry and a Student Ministry Administrative Assistant. Both Directors would have equal authority and responsibility to shepherd and disciple our students, with the only difference being that one would be male and one female. I believe that our students face unique challenges that require additional support, and having two Directors would better serve them and provide more opportunities for engagement with our community to seek the lost.

As a church, we humbly ask for your prayers and support during this time. The search teams have a significant responsibility and need your prayers for wisdom and discernment as they begin their work. We are grateful for your presence in the First Baptist Family and for the great things that God is doing through us.

Servant for His Glory,
Pastor Robert
